dies due to a colour contamination |

The pictures of Claus Bergen we present at ourwebsite were published
in the book 'Wir leben noch', id est 'U-boat Stories'. Later we received some good graphics by email. But we forgot to note the sender's name. So we may thank him here in this anonymus way.
Admiral Hipper ordered the German fleet a second time 'top secret'
to sea after the battle. The reason was to allow Bergen to paint
his pictures about this battle!
1961
his picture ,
id est 'Submarine at the front', was handed over to the Naval
Academy 'Marineschule Mürwik' due to its 50th anniversary. It
was a present, financed by donations of three generations of naval
officers.
Also
his work , id est 'The final fight of battleship
BISMARCK' was handed over to the Naval Academy by Dr. Hermann
Reusch.
In the
year 1963 US president received the picture 'Atlantic' by Claus Bergen.
In the
same year the artist handed over his picture , id est 'The VICTORY - Nelson's flagship'
to the British Admiralty. Admiral Jellicoe's widow attended the
hand over.
